About the role
Journey alongside children and youths aged 10-21 across a period of 6 months to equip them with adaptive coping strategies, which allow them to:
● manage intense emotions
● live more fully in the present
● communicate and express themselves effectively &
● better negotiate relationships
Runs annually, beginning Jan/Jul
Commitment
● Minimum 1-year volunteering commitment to Impart (excl. training duration)
● Compulsory in-person training (dates TBC)
During Project Cope, minimally 2h/week
● Daily brief digital check-ins with child or youth
● Weekly sessions with child or youth, inc. preparation and reporting
● Compulsory monthly group supervision on how to best support your youth(s) (every 2nd Tuesday of the month, 8pm-10pm)
Responsibilities
● Attend compulsory in-house training for youth engagement, and external training for Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
● Impart DBT skills to 2 children or youths
● Create session plans in preparation for each session with the youths
● Provide post-session updates for internal tracking
● Escalate safety risks or concerns in a timely fashion
Requirements
● 21 years old and above
● $200 deposit for 1-year commitment
● Psychology / Social Work / Criminology / Counselling background or other related fields
Preferred:
● Experience working with children and youths
