About the role
Stand in as the first line of response to children or youths facing psychological or life adversity, as they await access to professional help. As you journey with these youths, build up their motivation and readiness for change, which:
● builds a sense of emotional safety
● enhances their resilience &
● increases stability
Commitment
● Consistent workload of ~1h per week
● Minimum 1 year commitment
Responsibilities
● Complete required in-house training on youth engagement, along with external training in counselling skills such as Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
● Apply these skills as you work with 1-3 children or youths, supporting their journey toward sustained change and connection to long-term support
● Link children or youths to relevant resources
● Manage crises as they arise
Requirements
● 21 years old and above
● $200 deposit for 1-year commitment
● Psychology / Social Work / Criminology / Counselling background or other related fields
Preferred:
● Experience working with children and youths
